study-loan-earning-potential

Boost your earning potential by learning to code.

When you learn to code, you can grow your earning potential exponentially.

CodeSpace graduates between the ages of 19 and 24 with no prior work experience or tertiary education typically enter the market earning between R10 - R25,000/m and grow their earnings to between R18,000 and R38,000/m over 3 years.

If you have existing work experience or qualifications, those factors will positively influence your future earning potential. By adding software development skills to your toolkit, you can grow your career and boost your earning potential even more.

In the tech industry, work experience has a far more significant impact on your earning potential than your qualifications. If you put in the work to learn from more experienced developers in your team, focus on refining your skillset, and commit to continuous learning, you'll be on your way to becoming part of the top 2% of South African earners.

FAQ

Is a study loan for me?

A loan is a tool to help you achieve the education you need to have the career you want. A loan can help you pay education-related expenses, including tuition, campus access, laptop, and even accommodation.

A loan will allow you to focus on your studies without worrying about the stress of immediate financial obligations. Take out a loan to avoid using your savings. This means you still have access to your savings in an emergency situation.

If a loan is handled correctly, it can improve your credit score and open the way to better financial opportunities in the future.

How much income must I have to qualify?

You need to earn a small but steady income of at least R7000/m that is reflected in an SA bank account and a South African ID. If you don't earn enough, you can apply with a sponsor who can prove a steady income.

Can I get a loan if I'm from somewhere other than South Africa?

An aggregated study loan is a fantastic option for funding your studies if you're a foreign national living in South Africa. If you are a foreign national, you will need a sponsor or co-signer with a South African ID and bank account to apply alongside you.

What is a sponsor?

A sponsor is a person who will pay the loan instalments during your studies if you cannot pay them yourself. A sponsor can be your parent or anyone willing to support you with the loan application.

What is the interest rate, and how is it determined?

The interest rate and the term offered to repay a study loan depend on the credit score and affordability. The interest rate is generally between prime (7%) and 17% (prime +10%).

You will be offered a lower interest rate if you or your sponsor has a good credit score and a reliable income.

How much are my repayments while I am studying?

While studying (6-12 months), you only have to pay the interest on the loan amount. Your repayment amounts during your studies depend on the interest rate you are offered.

For example: If you borrow R50 000, the 10% interest will amount to R5000 per year and be payable in 12 monthly instalments. R 50 000 x 10% = R 5 000 /12 months = ± R450 p/m during the year of study.

How much will my repayments be when I graduate?

You'll have the loan's term to repay the borrowed amount, plus interest, after the year of study. ± R 1300 p/m*.

*This number is illustrative of usual repayments. Your unique offer will depend on the information you submit during your loan application
