PHP Engineering Overview
Learn backend development and how to integrate the frontend part of an application with it. Master PHP, the language most of the Internet is built on, once you've completed our prerequisite Software Development program. Discover how to work with servers and databases with MySQL to deploy data-driven web applications. Simplify the development process using Laravel, a popular PHP framework, to build sophisticated software. Use engineering design principles to bring IT operations and software development together.
Join a full-time class with weekly lectures. Learn to code by completing practical code challenges with the help of our expert coaches through video calls and direct messaging. You will be given several project briefs and work closely alongside an expert and other students to build real-world code projects. By the end of this specialisation, you'll have a host of code demonstrations and projects to boost your code portfolio.
As a CodeSpace student I became so much more confident in what I have to offer. I wasn't just taught how to code, but how to believe that I CAN code, and take it from there. Codespace is a sanctuary built by people who genuinely care about our futures, and for that I am very grateful.
Your learning journey
Learn server-side programming through PHP. Once you have learned the fundamentals of PHP, the course focuses on topics typically associated with backend programming languages, such as server-side rendering, file handling and working with a servers file system, authentication and authorisation, managing user sessions and cookies, and finally, learning about dependency/package managers through PHP's own Composer package manager.
